If you want a taste of the USA, Freebird's the place to go.
There aren't many places around Phnom Penh which offer a slice of home for an American, but Freebird is likely to fit everyone's bill.
Owned and managed by an American military expat, Freebird offers a combination of hearty burgers, homemade meatloaf, fresh salads and spicy wings along with delightful Cambodian service. The genteel staff deliver a jasmine-scented cold towel to every visitor and the sounds of rock and roll music play in the background as regulars and newcomers line the well-stocked bar and comfortable wooden tables.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered daily and there's happy hours every day from 3 - 6pm, as well as ladies nights on Fridays and Saturdays.
As it says in the 2009/2010 Miele Guide: "For homesick Americans - Freebird is heaven on earth". And it's great for locals as well.
