The Institut français of Cambodia is a meeting place, a forum of exchange, meant for instruction in the French language, dissemination of French culture, promotion of Khmer new creation and extension of francophony and cultural diversity.

All initiatives taken by the Institut français are part of a cooperation strategy with local partners. Its thrust is to become an essential ingredient in the cultural life of Cambodia and a showcase for French knowledge and skills.

Its three major pillars are:
- Linguistic cooperation and instruction in the French language for all publics and for all levels, preparing enrollees for language proficiency dip
December 2000 : First edition of Nuits d'Angkor
March 2004 : First CinéMékong Festival
April 2004 : First Tini Tinou Circus Festival
September 2007 : First Lakhaon Festival
November 2008 : First PhotoPhnomPenh Festival
January 2011 : Centre culturel français du Cambodge renamed Institut français du Cambodg
